Andy Warhol: Revelation

Organizing curator

Andy Warhol: Revelation explores the iconic artist’s lifelong relationship with his Catholic faith, which he carefully reframed in his portraits of celebrities, experimental films, and appropriated Renaissance masterpieces, to speak to vanguard Pop art and culture and his unapologetic life as an out gay man. It also included drawings made by Julia Warhola, Warhol’s mother.

It was organized by the Andy Warhol Museum and curated by José Carlos Diaz, former Chief Curator; Carmen Hermo organized its Brooklyn presentation.
