María Magdalena Campos-Pons: Behold
Curator
Behold is monographic exhibition of a visionary voice in photography, immersive installation, painting, and performance. Spanning nearly four decades of visually engaging artworks, the exhibition explores MacArthur Fellowship-winning Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons’s prescient and sensorial work—transporting viewers across geographies, mediums, and spiritual practices.
Behold debuted at Brooklyn Museum; it travels to the Nasher Museum at Duke University; Frist Art Museum in Nashville; and J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles (the co-organizing institution). It was curated by Carmen Hermo and Mazie Harris (Associate Curator, Department of Photographs, J. Paul Getty Museum), with Jenée-Daria Strand (Assistant Curator, Public Art Fund). In addition to acting as lead curator, Hermo also edited the seven-essay publication.
